Reza Azizi, Tenor

Reza Azizi is a classically trained tenor and choir director. After graduating from Plano Senior High School, he attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. While a member of the TCU Chorale, Mr. Azizi had the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops, as well as Bass Hall with the Fort Worth Symphony. He performed with the Fort Worth Opera for several seasons and also attended the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria for a summer voice program. Through this experience, he received invaluable knowledge of performing, musicality, vocal pedagogy, proper technique, as well as study of German Art Songs, Operetta, and German diction. He also recently performed with the Plano Civic Chorus.

After graduating with his Bachelor of Music Education, magna cum laude, Mr. Azizi taught choir for eleven years, predominantly in Plano ISD at Clark High School and Plano Senior High School. Under his choral and musical theatre direction, his choirs have consistently received sweepstakes awards at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest, he has had several students in the Texas All-State Choir, and his musicals have received numerous Dallas Summer Musicals Theatre Award nominations.

Mr. Azizi is excited to join the Prosper Choir family and looks forward to sharing his love of classical/operatic singing, as well as musical theatre and vocal jazz with his voice students!

Natalie Merrill, Soprano

Ms. Merrell is an emerging operatic soprano and University of North Texas graduate passionate about helping students find their authentic voices. While at UNT, she studied with Dr. Lauren McNeese and performed the roles of Gheradino (Puccini's Gianni Schicchi) and the Owl (Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen.) Ms. Merrell made her east coast operatic debut as the first Witch in Dido and Aeneas with the Tidewater Opera Initiative in 2018. She returned to the company to cover the Dew Fairy in Humperdink's Hansel and Gretel the following year. She is excited to get back onstage again in the upcoming performance season.

Ms. Merrell's love for singing started long before she set foot onstage, but her dream of making it a career began right here in North Texas, competing for All-State Choir her freshman year. She chased that dream all the way to the finish line, and now she is thrilled to be helping young singers develop the same skills she used to succeed
